After years of planning and just 20 months after breaking ground, Nassau Airport Development Company was proud to open the new 247,000 sq. ft. U.S. Departures terminal on March 16, 2011. The first flight – a Bahamasair jet bound for Miami – took off from LPIA at 6:30 a.m. During the grand opening ceremonies we played a four-minute video, which reflects the energy and passion of the people who are building the future of the tourism and aviation industry in The Bahamas.
